Politicians don't get much respect because they are... politicians. We want to associate with them because they are in position of power. We want to know them because we may need their help with a problem. But we don't respect them. We put them in office to champion our causes, improve our lives, and better our future. However, true or not, it appears to us voters that, once elected, most politicians are only interested in one thing...getting re-elected.

Their justifications can be many: "If I'm not in office, how can I do any good", "I'll compromise this for the greater good of that", "I need the support of this group of crazies because they are large and they vote." All of these reasoning are valid, if all you are interested in is getting re-elected, not if you are in office to take a stand.

Most kids we grew up with were very nice. However, intellectually, a couple were really smart, most were pretty average, and a surprising few were really dumb. About 1 in 10 went on to Ivy League schools, have interesting careers, and some rose to prominence. Talk radio is just a mirror of adult version of high school...why would one expect the average listener to be any more intelligent than when we were all growing up? The only difference now that we are older is that the smarter kids make more money, are enjoying life, and can still relax while the economy has tanked. There is no "Left/Right"...only "rich/poor." The "rich" wants to stay rich and the "poor" wants to be rich. Political ideology is a tool the rich use to suppress the poor...because, well let's face it... not everyone can be rich.

This is a difficult spot to be. [Permalink] -Apple iPatch FirstLook
