RainyDayKitchen...

The shipper dropped off a huge styrofoam box at the RainyDayMagazine's front office this afternoon.  We didn't know what to make of it until we saw TheBuffaloGuys logo.  Good thing we just had lunch or we never would have had a chance to get the photos before the meat eating RainyDayKitchen folks start cooking what was inside!

Everything was well packaged and cooled with a lot of dry ice... 2.7 kg of it to be exact.  Everything was still frozen solid when it arrived.  The fact that is was about 20 degrees out didn't hurt :-)

We got a lot of tasty looking stuff in the shipment: buffalo ribeye steaks, buffalo burgers, ground buffalo, and buffalo hot dogs!  It is hard to write up this FirstLook without heading down to the kitchen and cooking up some of it.  Maybe that is why there is a lock on the freezer in the RainyDayKitchen.

They promised we'll get some of it for lunch tomorrow...when they figure out exactly how they are going to do the taste tests (and the non-meat eaters go off for vegetarian Chinese food).  Hey, I bet we can drill the lock on the freezer with our new Dremel 400 XPR rotary tool!

If we do get the freezer open, the first things we would cook are the burgers.  The frozen burgers can go from freezer directly to grill, and are supposed to be ready in 8 minutes. We'll cook some up and see!

The four 10 oz ribeye steaks also looked fantastic.  There is beautiful marbling throughout the cut.  I can hear the sizzling already!

We can't wait to try all of these amazing looking items.  One idea folks are kicking around here is a "Steak cook-off".  We would invite some folks over and cook up cuts from a local butcher, from the supermarket, and from the Buffalo Guys.  We would do a double blind taste test to see and rank the preferences. The vegetarians are already planning to go to Tea at the Ritz on that day...

So keep your eyes peeled for our e-mail invitation...some of you might just get one in January!

Oh, one other bonus with buffalo meat...no Mad Cow Disease :-)

Buffalo Guys

Assorted Meats

By Wan Chi Lau

Ever since the TurDucKen feast at GadgetFest 2005, the meat-eating members of RainyDayKitchen have been on a mission to find great food on the web.

One interesting find was the Buffalo Guys.  They have an entire line of buffalo based products (steaks, patties, jerky, ribs, etc...)

In the FirstLook review, we'll show you what type of meats came in the package, how they were packed, and what they looked like on arrival.

In the Firstuse review, we'll set up some crazy taste test... anything for a party:-)

Reviews:
