RainyDayRenovations...

The ColdHeat FreeStyle hot glue gun comes with a built-in stand, four glue sticks, a charger, rechargeable battery pac, and AC adapter.

The built-in stand flips down to support the gun and properly angles it downward so the glue does not back up into the chamber.  This angle also makes it quite easy to pick up and put down the gun.

The gun has a built-in LED light at the front for illumination.  In the close up above you can see the shield around the tip.  The shield is rubbery and minimizes the amount of hot surface exposed to the user.  We are not sure how hot the glue gets in this gun, but some glue can get as hot as 400º!

The trigger advances the glue stick when squeezed.  The clear window at the top of the FreeStyle makes it easy to see how much glue is left.  It is also just plain cool looking :-)

The insertion point for the glue stick is in the rear of the gun.  It also has two LED indicators: the top one lights up when the unit is in "PowerSaver" mode, the bottom on lights up when the battery is low and needs to be recharged.

Loading the glue stick is pretty simple, just insert until it is in the tube at the other end.  Turn on the gun by adjusting the heat setting for for the type of glue you're using (high or low), then pull the trigger to advance the glue into the heating tip.

If the battery needs to be charged, squeeze the grey tabs on the side to free the battery from the grip and insert it into the charger.  The battery is shaped so that it will fit in only one direction.  A fully charged battery should last about an hour and a half.

We are going to start hot gluing things around the RainyDayMagazine office over the next couple of days.  If we don't answer our phones, it's because someone has glued it to the base!  If we don't answer the door...then get us some help because we have glued each other to our chairs :-)

ColdHeat

FreeStyle Hot Glue Gun

By Wan Chi Lau

ColdHeat is the company that gave us a soldering iron that cools in 3 seconds.

Now they have added another great tool to their line up called the FreeStyle.  FreeStyle is a cordless hot glue gun.

We'll let you in on a secret...glue guns aren't just for the Martha Steward crowd :-)  When the RainyDayGarage folks want to tack stuff onto panels or covers or neatly tuck stuff (cords, cables) out of the way, they usually use a hot glue gun.  Cold Heat has made those tasks a lot easier with this cool looking cordless unit!

In this FirstLook review, we will take a look at the tool and its accessories. In the FirstUse review, we'll see what kind of crazy projects we can come up with to test this awesome looking glue gun!
